It feels like it was just yesterday that all of us were excited knowing that Madam Salwa will be teaching us again for this semester and what's more is that she will be teaching us Creative Writing subject. Hearing the word 'creative' turned us into exuberant kids because we thought that it would be a fun subject to learn but....worry not, IT IS FUN! I mean, this subject is one of the subjects that give us the freedom in writing our hearts out and through this subject, all of the Tesl 1 kids feel like they are J.K Rowling, John Green or William Shakespeare. Even I feel like I was Maya Angelou when I wrote a poem, I mean acrostic poem based on my name. Call me ambitious or whatever but I still believe that I have the right to be whatever I want to be in my own creative writing world :P
Our first Creative Writing's class started with a 'warm-up' activity which is creating an acrostic poem based on our names. I found it interesting as I can produce a poem just by using each alphabet that exists in my name. Below is my first ever acrostic poem that I created my including me into it:
AMALINA
A - and she comes here and starts to wander
M - misty pictures come with borders
A - as she blows the wind, it starts clearer
L - life ahead is what waiting for her
I - in line with obstacles that come from further
N - need to inhale despite being fearA - at last, she breathes and starts her gear
After that class, we proceed to another activity which is writing a 6-word story. Never did I thought that a mere 6 words are still considered as creative writing. At first, I found it funny but then I realized that those words still came out from my creative mind. It was exciting reading my friends' extreme short story because they did an extremely great job. Mine was just simply "Why he is your preferred sexual orientation".

My knowledge on this subject started to widen when I was exposed to various types of writing such as prose fiction, prose non-fiction and poetry. Not just that, each type of writing consists of its' smaller parts such as vignette, short story, flash fiction, travel writing, advertisement, haiku and even rhymes. If I was to describe each knowledge that I got regarding those creative writings, this one page would not be enough. I feel proud that I am able to distinguish those creative writings according to its' functions and suitability. Plus, learning the 3 stages of the creative writing processes help me to plan my draft of writing order to produce the best writing that I can come up with. It also did help me a lot in finishing my assignment and tasks of this Creative Writing subject
Overall, despite having lots of fun learning this Creative Writing subject, there are still ups and downs that I have gone through. For example, I have always been underestimating myself by saying that I am not creative and I could not produce a good piece of writing. I always compare my writings to my friends and I found that they are on a different level that out of my reach. Somehow, I feel encouraged watching their struggles to produce their best masterpieces. I believe that whats matter the most; hard work and believe in yourself.
I started to believe that I can produce not just one writing but more than that. I wanted other people to read my heart and I knew that writing is one of the best instruments that can connect me with other people. Most of my writings are closely related to my life and experiences. I tried to convey my feelings through these pieces and then I found my fingers keep on pressing the keyboard non-stop and the end of the writing is somehow nowhere to be found. Okay, I was just joking. I still put a full stop when I ran out of ideas hehe.
I realized that I was indulged in this world of writing despite thinking that my pieces of writing might not be as a good as anyone else but I am still proud with myself for being able to produce these pieces. I believe that I did my best in producing these beautifully written masterpieces. (Please allow me to be this level of ambitious and confident hahaha). Furthermore, the comments and feedback that I received from the readers, friends and family really encourage me to trust my ability to produce those masterpieces. I feel that what I was trying to convey reach them and I believe that I succeed in bringing them into my world. A world that is created by my own heart, mind and creativity.
